Our DTRT Standard (Do The Right Thing)
At DTRT Apparel, we don't just find it beneficial to treat our workers well, we find it strategically essential to the success of our company.
Our own leading sustainability standard, “Do The Right Thing”, establishes higher social compliance standards than the industry norm or the country’s legal minimum. DTRT Apparel gives our people higher earning potential, hot meals, access to health care, and supports education for our workers’ children.
Setting a Sustainable Standard
The apparel industry has earned a bad reputation (in many cases, rightfully) for exploiting workers and taking every step imaginable to produce garments at the lowest possible cost. Tragic events in Bangladesh have cost thousands of workers their lives and shined a spotlight on the practices of many in the industry.
At DTRT however, we don’t believe in cutting corners. We want to utilize the tremendous power of our industry to do good by creating thousands of jobs and jumpstart developing economies.
We want to make sure that the jobs being created are created with the understanding that a worker’s safety, fair salary, and health care are not negotiable factors that can be manipulated for financial gain.
*In a 2015 Global Attitudes survey, an overwhelming 92% of men and women surveyed in Ghana said that the lack of employment opportunities in their country was a top concern
Our workforce is mostly women, including many single mothers. With the salary and sustainable careers Dignity DTRT is able to offer these women, many are able to provide for both themselves and their children.
